30, Part 2

Have you wondered why it’s been so quiet around here lately?

Well, there was something else that happened on my 30th birthday that I didn’t share earlier…

That was the day we found out that we are expecting our fourth child!!

For the past 2 weeks I’ve been very, very sick – which is my normal pregnancy routine.

In addition to my “regular” sickness, each of my children have come down with the stomach flu sometime during the past week. It’s been a bit of a struggle to keep my head above the water, so to speak. But God has buoyed me up and continues to carry me through this challenging period.

I’m looking forward to my first midwife visit in a week or two to hear that precious heartbeat!

30

birthday flowers

I am 30 years old.

I know that it’s supposed to be kind of scary or depressing to turn 30, but somehow my brain didn’t get that memo. I don’t feel very old, and I hope that with each new decade that passes me by, that my sentiments stay the same. I am so blessed to be right where I am at this point in my life!

I used to always want to go out somewhere fancy or to do something exciting for my birthday, but this year I was content to spend time with my family. I guess that in and of itself shows that I’m getting older. :) Not that I don’t like getting all dressed up and going out! But this year, it just seemed to work out better to stay home and I wasn’t upset about it.

Dan and the girls made my birthday an extra-nice one, full of love and special treatment. We enjoyed a quiet dinner at home. Even though I made the dinner, Dan brought home a special cheesecake for dessert, along with the flowers that you see above. After the children went to bed, we sat for a long while and talked about growing older and how quickly life goes by. We talked of our hopes and plans for our growing family. We marvelled at how although our children will someday be grown and gone from this house, God gives us the opportunity to share a relationship with them that will last eternally. It’s easier to accept getting older, I think, when we are able to take a glimpse into God’s way of looking at things – the eternal perspective.

Anyway, turning the corner into my 30’s was much better than I always thought it would be. :)

Blog hibernation

sun and snow

My blog is going into hibernation for a few weeks.

It’s not that I’ve run out of things to share here, it’s just that I don’t have the desire to sit down and write about them at this point. It’s getting to be that I feel an obligation to blog, rather than doing it for the sheer fun of it. Rather than give up my blog completely, however,  I’m going to take a little break and return at the start of 2009. Hopefully, a few of you will come back and visit me then. :)

In a few days, Dan will be home for the remainder of the year and we look forward to spending that peaceful and wonderful time together as a family.

May God bless you until we meet again!

Hooray!

I’m so excited…do you know why?

Because I just found out that one of my most very favorite blogs has returned after almost a year’s absence. Eyes of Wonder is one of the most peaceful and lovely spots on the web. I have often visited there and come away with such a lovely sense of peace and thankfulness for the little things in each day. Jewels’ words are encouraging and her pictures are beautiful.

Want to come along with me for a visit?

Help us find new homes!

In the past few days, I’ve gone on a TOTAL de-cluttering spree. I do this every once in a while when I go crazy with too much stuff to clean and organize. It’s amazing how much STUFF we can accumulate without even purchasing anything! Things get passed around, gifts are given and things just pile up. Just yesterday I stuffed 8 garbage bags full and they are sitting by the door waiting for a nice little trip to the Goodwill. :)

Anyway! I came across a few nice things that I don’t just want to throw away. Especially if one of my dear faithful readers – all 8 of you :) -would like one of them!

#1: ‘Happiness’ figurine

Do any of you collect these Willow Tree figurines? I only have one and I think she may be lonely. I love this figurine but I don’t really have a place for her. I’ve also grown weary trying to explain to the girls why she doesn’t have a face for the 50th time. :) The tagline that adorned her box was “FREE to sing, laugh, dance… create!”

#2: Mosaic candle holder

This 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ candle holder plate is from the White Barn Candle Co. It is heavy glass with a blue mosaic wave design on it. It’s in great condition, but again, I don’t have a good place to use it. Candle-burning can only be done in specific places when you have little children around!

#3: Teapot

This is a beautiful “Tea-for-One” set, hand-painted by Tracy Porter. It stands 6 inches tall and is a teapot on top, mug on the bottom. It’s never been used! I had it on display in my old home, but it doesn’t really have a place here in our new one.

I think this would make a great Mother’s Day gift for someone who collects teapots ~ perhaps filled with some special teas in the bottom half?

If you are interested in any of these items, please leave me a comment letting me know which one. I will ask that you pay for the shipping – that is, if I don’t see you a regular basis. :) If I have more than one person for an item, I’ll draw a name at the end of the week (Saturday night). If you know of someone who might like one of these, send them my way!

I hope that you can help me find new homes for these sweet items!

I can’t believe…

…how many typos I find in my posts after they have already been published! YIKES!

Dan calls me the “grammar queen” because I’m always correcting people’s spelling and grammar and truly, bad spelling and grammar are 2 of my pet peeves. Yet it would seem that I haven’t been able to edit my own blog very well, have I?

I have such a *very* limited time to write and edit posts that I tend to type very quickly and read over what I’ve written very quickly.

If I was a reader to this blog, I’d probably not be a reader for long because of all the typos! :)

I promise to try and read through each post SLOWLY before hitting the “Publish” button if you promise to overlook my typos with grace. :)
