Our full winter {indoor} days

There hasn’t been much outdoor wintery fun this year ’round these parts. Instead, we have had day after day of gray, slushy, muddy weather, which is not a mom’s favorite weather by far. :)

However, we have found lots of things to do indoors this winter. Here are a few of the things we’ve been up to. This is especially for you, far-away grandparents! :)

The children…

…made pine cone bird feeders with Grandma– (and yes, Mary Ingalls stopped by for a visit that day)

…studied shells…

(I walked into the living room one afternoon to find this — the children had found a couple of bags of seashells that the previous home owners had left in our garden shed. They had pulled out the field guides and Pagoo and were identifying the different shells on their own initiative.)

…painted pictures for me…

…measured everything…

…helped me make bread…

…learned how to lay out, measure and sew curtains for the play house (with Grandma)…

…and had one day of fun in the snow. It was Grace’s first time playing in the snow! She looked like a puff…

While my winter activities have heavily consisted of sitting on the couch nursing a sleepy baby.

Emma likes to sport the spiky “do” when she gets out of her bath. :)

What have you been up to this unusual winter?

  1. Looks like you’ve found some delightful things to occupy the indoors. It’s been a bit of a cabin fever season for us but, we mange to keep busy enough. We’ve done lots of arts and crafts to go along with our letter of the week program that were doing for school. We painted with pudding on poster board for letter ‘P’. Themed toilet paper roll figureenes. We’re going through the fruits of the spirit again. When we have a snow we try to get out in it. Lots of cooking and baking with momma. My ‘plasenta brain’ is not very compatable with my teacher momma initiative but we are now counting down the weeks. 12 to go! Take care! You are an inspiration to me.

    • Hi Coleen!

I didn’t realize that you had children old enough for school yet! What “Letter of the Week” program are you using? It sounds like fun! What do you like to bake with your children?

I can’t believe that you only have 12 weeks left! How exciting! :)
