Hi, it’s me…

…I’m still here!

Today we are finally back to our normal routine after two weeks of all sorts of activities and events. It feels nice. :)

During school hours today, we started reviewing all that Abigail has covered this year to see what she has actually *mastered* and what we can continue to work on over the summer. She has accomplished quite a bit this year, but I want to make sure that most of what she has learned has stayed put in her brain. :)

I also started my planning for the next school year today, which translates into lots of time sitting in front of the computer – poring over articles, online catalogues, eBay, Amazon, booklists, etc. (My head is starting to hurt!) I’m amazed at all the choices out there for excellent curriculum and books. I try to keep it simple, though, and not get too crazy looking into every homeschool curriculum out there. We’re going to try and use Ambleside Online’s Year 1 curriculum for Abigail this year as a general outline for her schooling. Hunting down all the books on the booklist has been a challenge, though, as many of them are quite old. At least I’m starting early. As the garden takes off and I get closer to the arrival of our new little one, I know that I’ll be less inclined to be sitting here working on school planning. So, now’s the time.

I’d better get back to work before Jonathan wakes up from his nap!

Hope you’re having a nice Monday. :)

  1. I know what you mean! We finally decided on our curriculums for next year. With 3 completely different learning styles it was hard. Of course Kaitlin won’t be doing as much, we still put her on the “schedule”. I think the hardest part was planning for a baby next school year too. Anyway, just take a deep breath and ask God for guidance(I know easer said than done!)

    Blessings,

  2. Yep, I remember the feeling. It took a little while before I finally relaxed and realized all you kids were way ahead of the kids at school. Then I just concentrated on the basics and added my own tools to the mix. You’re doing great Anna…don’t stress out too much, or you won’t have anything left before the fall comes. tee hee. Hang in there! :)

  3. Hi Anna! I’ve been working on our end of the year reports this week and then will begin to work on planning next year. :) I want to have our plans in place before we move and then hopefully we’ll start a little earlier with the baby coming… anyway, do you know what you are going to be doing for math? I’ve been looking at a couple of different programs and just thought I’d see if you had any thoughts.

Hope your week has gone well, my friend!

  4. Carrie,
We’re still looking through the math curriculums for next year, trying to find out which one suits our family the best. This year I just used the aBeka Kindergarten math book with Abigail. Right now we are looking at Ray’s Arithmetic books. Have you ever heard of them? I’ll let you know what we decide…someday. :)
