Psalm 16

I will bless the LORD who has given me counsel;
My heart also instructs me in the night seasons.
I have set the LORD always before me;
Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.

Psalm 16:7-8

So many times, I’ve prayed that the Lord would grant me wisdom in a particular decision or the right words in a conversation with someone. Yet how many times, after the decision has become clear or the right words have come, have I stopped to bless the Lord – stopped to thank Him for the counsel He has given?

When I go to a (human) person for advice and they are kind enough to give it, I always thank them for their words. Yet, I often forget to thank God, once I have received the answers or wisdom that I prayed for!

I am so thankful for the wise counsel from the scriptures and the Holy Spirit! The Lord is so gracious to give counsel and wisdom when we ask for it.

My hope echoes that of David – I want to always set the Lord and His words before me, that I shall not be moved!
